Mon, 09 Jun 2008 22:06:17 -0700 http://supermassive.info/cms/Supermassive-CMS-Feature-List.html Upgrade Project Scope http://supermassive.info/cms/Supermassive-CMS-Upgrade-Project.html Summary of Supermassive CMS Upgrade The Supermassive CMS is a low-profile content-management system built by Supermassive.NET in PHP/MySQL for Apache/Linux environment. It allows non-technical users to install the CMS, create a user account and post public and private "listings" in the form of blogs, image uploads, link libraries, etc. The CMS functions as a multi-user collaborative blogging tool and content management system for creating rich web media, corporate intranets, data archives, rapid web publishing, and simple web commerce. The current release is approximately 38 PHP files and a single DB with 32 tables. It was built with optimized efficiency in mind, and simplicity and object-oriented efficiency is the goal of this CMS profile.
The Supermassive CMS is currently deployed in alpha on a handful of site and upgrades are needed to clean-up to codebase and add minimal user requirements for wider release. One or more programmers are needed to help streamline and build-out existing codebase to make end-user experience as simple and non-technical as possible. This includes a complete sweep of each page in the site to add missing functionality and get code up to release standards, plus create a "one-click install" script or similar setup method for easy multi-site deployment.
The following technical skills will be necessary:
- FTP
- PHP 4.0 and 5.0
- MySQL Query Language
- CPANEL and PHPMyAdmin
- Javascript
- Object-Oriented AJAX
Code development and testing will be done on a server provided by Supermassive.NET.
Coders must adhere to variable naming protocols for ease of human readability.
Coders must adhere to inline comment protocols and version history logging for ease of use and workflow tracking.

Posted by jamesk. Summary

The Supermassive CMS is built to run on PHP 4 and PHP 5 for Apache/Linux servers with a single MySQL database as the back-end. While the Supermassive CMS strives to be as simple to install as administer as possible, some knowledge of FTP, PHP, MySQL, and PHPMyAdmin may be needed to get your website up and running.

1. Download

Download the Supermassive CMS installation package from one of the following sources:

No Download Provided (initial release in dev)

2. Upload

Extract the files from the download package to a folder of your choice, and then upload the entire contents of that folder to directory on your web server where you want the CMS to reside. If you want the CMS to reside in your home directory, upload your files to the "www" or "public_html" folder of your web server.

3. Run Setup

Once your files have uploaded, use a web browser to load the setup.php page at your web site. For instance, if you uploaded the files to your web root, you would load the file by going to http://yourdomain.com/setup.php. Of course, you would change the domain to your actual domain name.
The setup script will help you create your database and all the necessary folders the CMS will need. See Manual Installation Instructions for help troubleshooting problems with the setup script (not yet available).
Once the database is built and the folders are installed, setup will then guide you to a page where you can create your administrative user account and customize information about your site. See Configuration Settings documentation for additional help with this process (not yet available).

4. Log-in

Once you have created your first user account you can then log-in to CMS by going to the log-in form and using your new username and password. Once you have logged in you will be taken to your user page and prompted to give additional details about yourself for your user account. You will also be prompted to "Add a Listing" to begin the process of creating your first document.

5. Publish

When you click on "Add a Listing" you will be taken to a page with a form to enter a new listing. You will need a title for your new listing, as well a short description. When you click "Add Listing" at the bottom of this page your new document will be created in the database. From here you will be taken to a page showing you how your listing will look, which will also let you edit the contents and settings for this document. For more information on how to edit listings, publish listings, upload images, change advanced settings, and more, please see our Listing Help documentation (not yet available).

From supermassive.net.
